Hope for a seemingly dead motor?
Cart has been sitting for a few years and I'm trying to breath some life back into it. After getting no action out of it, I pulled the motor out of my Cushman Titan 36v, model 898335-8910. This is a resistor style cart.
It's a GE motor, model number 5BC49JB402B. I tested it out of the cart and while I did get spark, I didn't get any spin. Only heat. I'm guessing some sort of a short? It looks like the motor in its current state is toast. But is there any way to rebuild this one? Is the short likely in the field coils? I'd prefer to rebuild if that's an option. Thanks! |

Electric motors are never toast. Take it to a motor repair shop. They'll fix it.
New motor = $1,000. Repaired motor = couple hundred (tops). |
