2013/2014 Yamaha G29 drive questions.
I purchased this Yamaha G29 and trying to figure out what year and model it is, i have searched and not been able to find anything on YDREX4, the label says construction Oct 2013 but is it a 13 or 14?
I also have a unused plug, anyone know what it is? it;s 4 wires, Red, White, Black & Black with a White stripe. last but not least I purchased a 48 volt DC to DC converter and looking for a trigger wire so i can turn it on and off by the key.. Thanks in Advance~ |

Mine is manufactured in 2013 but serial number has it listed as a 2014 model. The plug is used to plug in a test instrument I believe.

Thanks~ I just got off the phone with Yamaha and they confirmed that it is a 2014 G29 Drive and that it was a fleet model and the reason for the X4. though they couldn't tell me what the plug was for of where a 48 volt switched hot is.

That plug is for the infrared receiver the dealer uses to program the controller. It should have a cover on it, but yours doesn’t.

Re: 2013/2014 Yamaha G29 drive questions.
Two choices for the converter green trigger wire. Take it to the controller main harness, find the Red/Wht wire going to Pin 8 of the main harness connector and splice the green to it. I split the harness tape and used a Blue 3M splice connector, see pic. Or you could take the green to the dash and find the same Red/Wht wire going to the KS and do the splice there. See attched wiring dwgs.

If you have some of those dreaded blue connectors, round them all up and throw them in the trash. I have never in my life seen a more unreliable connector.

If you buy cheap Chinese crap, I might agree with you. But, the good ones are UL approved and used extensively in strip lighting and other parts of the electrical industry. If used properly and with the correct size wire, they are very reliable, especially for what this is used for here. If you don't know how to install them properly, you should throw them away. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-...1661291&rt=rud Last edited by PingEye3; 07-26-2018 at 09:48 AM..
