Default EZGO TXT Rebuild

So I bought an EZGO TXT. A little rough but I thought I'd spend an afternoon or two "cleaning" it up. Now I'm into it down to the frame so I'm starting over. I had big plans to complete the project then post all the pics of my progress, but I can already see I'm going to need way too much advise from the community to do it that way. I'll post pics for where I'm an now.

If you look at the nut and bolt at the top of the 4th picture you'll get an idea of what most of the hardware on this thing looks like

My first step is going to be to sand / grind down the frame and paint. That is if I don't find that the frame is too rusted to continue

I only drove this thing around the block a couple of times, but the first thing I noticed is how much smoother it is than my lifted Club Car. I really like the way it rides. I'm looking at suspension components. I've considered the 4" and the 2" lift on the shop EZ go sight (installing both) because that will replace front and rear leaf springs, front axle, spindle, and hubs. All of these parts are rusty as you can see in the pics. I've also heard that the long travel lifts ride really well, but then I'm still replacing leaf springs in the rear. So that is the first place I need some direction

looks like a fun project. My cart, a 2003 ezgo, was very rough when I purchased it. I stripped it down to the bare frame, sanded, used etching chemicals to treat metal, and then painted with POR15. It looked great when done. I then rebuilt with all new parts and hardware. Through a 5" AllSports lift kit on, all new electronics and wiring etc. Anyhow, now that it's done I love this cart. Good luck on your project, and if you have any questions let me know!

Thompson, we all started somewhere.....and I started at the exact same place you did, I brought home my very first cart 3 1/2 years ago....and like you, after 1 week it was down to the frame. Here is a link to my build, start to finish. We are here to help and will help anywhere we can. believe it or not....its not as hard as you think, just take your time, be very methodical, label everything, take notes as to how stuff comes apart so you can put it back together and take pictures as well.

Guys thanks for all the help. I was planning on using an angle grinder with 36 grit sandpaper to start sanding the frame. A guy at work thinks that may be a little aggressive? When I'm done I was planning on going back with flat black rustolium.

I used truck bedliner when I went over the frame. Still on, not coming loose. A bit more $$$$, but its much thicker and resistant to scratches, etc.
