Marathon Motor getting HOT!
Hey all.
I've got a 94 Marathon (48v Conversion) with the following: AMD 7124 "The Beast" motor Alltrax AXE4844 #2 Welding Wire Cables with Soldered Lugs Carts Unlimited HD F&R Switch Carts Unlimited HD Magnetic Breakout Solenoid 4" Lift 20" Tires 2 year old 8 x 6v Interstate Batteries, well maintained I'm running on pretty flat terrain (it's a sod farm), just two people with no cargo, on a full charge. I get about 2000 yards: 1000 out, stop for a few minutes, nearly 1000 back, and all the sudden the power drops out. I let off the throttle, hop out and the motor is blazing hot. Battery cables are cool, motor cables are slightly warm, but far from hot. I leave it for a few hours and it rolls again. It's done it three times now. Each time I've towed it back home, torn it down, made sure everything is clean and torqued properly and put it back together. Any clues as to what's going on? |
