Re: EZGO DCS Motor option
It's a shame the govt could not mandate a useful scale for this instead of some of the ridiculous crap they have mandated.

The lab we tested at charged the manufacturer $250K per week of lab time for that testing. Unfortunately, there are no regulations of that sort for many components of a vehicle, unless they are required to meet Mil-Spec for government contracts. The rest of us are pretty much on our own. |

Re: EZGO DCS Motor option
HP is a calculated value based on either the Torque and RPM output from the motor, or the Voltage applied and the resulting Amp flow.
There are two variables in either calculation, so more than one set of variables can produce the same HP answer. The attached chart is for a fractional HP motor, but the shape of the power (HP) curve is roughly the same for cart motors. Peak HP is midway between the stall torque and no-load RPM. On the two down slopes on either side of the peak point there are the same HP values, but each having different Torque and RPM values. ----------- The calculation for Mechanical HP is: Torque X RPM / 5252. The calculation for Electrical HP is: Volts X Amps / 746. The efficiency of a motor is the Mechanical HP output divided by the Electrical HP input. --------- A HP rating without an associated RPM or Torque rating is like using a rubber band for a yardstick. And that is for Series motors. It gets more complicated for SepEx motors due the the added variable of field strength. |
