Default My 98 TXT project begins !!!

After a month of reading, reading, and more reading, I have.....

A plan, parts ordered, beer fridge stocked and a secret stash of $$$ twice what I think it will cost....(see how much I read ??)

So here goes !!!

My plan is a strip down, clean up and paint of the running gear and body
A box of "go fast" from Scotty B, 48v(6x8v) pack, 5 " drop axle lift with 22's and a flip rear seat.
The body and seat color is yet to be determined (in "guy speak" that means my co-pilot hasn't decided)

I will add pics and updates as I progress !

I sure do want to thank ALL of the regulars here, your answers and suggestions to other FNGs questions posted have been of great value to me so far ! I think I have avoided at least 25 "OH ****" moments so far, that leaves about that many to come !!!

True story.

Just for posterity though - after my recent set of upgrades, I've found that it is easier to act surprised when the dang golf car just HAS to have something else to work correctly.

Indeed always act surprised and now and then make the copilot push the cart for in front of the neighbour while you say "you see I told you we need a new controller " :)

Great job so far! I agree with others to keep the co-pilot interested, it's a whole lot easier to make things happen...that and a separate credit card!

Well, so this week has been "body work" and more body work !!

I did get some valuable advise and help from a body shop neighbor on the plastic repair portion of the week.

2 very helpful products, both are readily available 3M "2 part"...

I used the "rigid" #5885 to plug the holes from removing the "spike guards" and a couple of switches from the body. After beveling both inside and outside surfaces of each hole, covered outside with masking tape and filled from the inside. 8 mins. of work time, ready to sand in 30 mins... worked great!

I used the "EZ Sand" # 5887 to fill the 1.2 gazillion dings, divots and scratches all over the body. worked in small batches, again 8 mins of work time, 30 more and your ready to sand.

The cowl had a few pretty deep gouges, pretty sure they were bird strikes during re-entry (sorry, it must be the fumes).. the primer was a test coat to see how it looked... Yes, I'm still sanding on it ! I think I will finish it tonite

Everything else is "smoother than a new jar of Skippy", even got the approval of my paint shooter. He is taking care of the promoter, primer, final block out and shooting of the "Bright Atlantic Blue Metallic" that the co-pilot picked out.

The Up to Par Seat covers "Two Stripe Deluxe" Gray, Blue, Black for the front and rear seats are on order. (Another 2 weeks on those.)

Next week should be installing all the Scotty Go Fast stuff, doing the brakes, getting the tires mounted up and finishing more of the detailing.

I do want to say again that I COULD NOT have gotten this far without the help and guidance from the great folks on this board !! It also helps to be a few weeks behind JaxPilot....... His issues seem to get worked out just before I get to them !!

Looking good. You saved a lot of man hours for your painter and you used the right materials. No Plastic Wood filler.
