Extra Relay in Pwerwise EZGO charger
I have an extra relay I'm trying to identify in an on board Powerwise 28115-G03 battery charger. Date code of 071502C4 or 07150204.
terminal 5 is grd, terminal 1 is black wire from the relay, teerminal 2 is red wire from the circuit board, terminal 3 is white wire from circuit card and power input cord, terminal 4 is going to output cord green wire. Which terminals goes to coil, and which wire gets connected to the term 4 when relay pulls? And what is the part number of this coil? Generic vs OEM part number is preferred. Thank you in advance for your help. |

Re: Extra Relay in Pwerwise EZGO charger
The purpose of that relay is to allow the PW 28115 charger to be used as an on board charger. If you want to use it as a portable, it doesn't need that relay.
It is a SPDT relay with a 120VAC coil and your wiring ID is dangerously wrong. It is as follows, using your labeling. 1. & 3. - 120VAC to coil. 5. B+ from heat sink, which is continuously connected to battery pack B+ when connected as a on-board charger. Gray wire and is the relay's Common terminal 2. NO terminal. (Red wire) Connects B+ from heatsink to control board when charger is plugged into 120VAC. This completes the battery sensing circuit needed to energize relay on control board and apply power to the transformer. 3. NC terminal. (Yellow wire) B+ source for cart's solenoid activation circuit. When 120VAC is applied to charger, cart is disabled. Performs same function as reed switch in cart that do not have on-board charger. Any SPDT relay with 120VAC coil ought to work. ---------------- If you are not going to use as an on-board charge, you'll have to re-route the yellow wire or you'll get some smoke and fire. (The yellow wire will short B+ to B- if you just put a D Plug on the output cable) |
