Hey all.
Just coming back to thank everyone for their help with my issue.
As it turned out it was the encoder bearing after all.
I didn’t want to spend €300 locally on the part just in case it wasn’t the problem, so I got one from elsewhere for a third of the price. Hopefully it will last.
You can test the bearing in situ by following the procedure in the manual available on this site.
DO NOT hammer the new bearing back in place or the internal magnets MAY lose their magnetism. Use a bearing press or some other compression method.
