2008 EzGo RXV does not run. Not performing start up sequence
We have a 2008 RXV that when turned on the solenoid clicks twice and we get no other response. Being a Danaher controller and not having the ability to scan, we performed various voltage checks in the controller. We spoke with an ezgo tech on the phone and after reviewing all with him, he said it was pointing to a faulty controller. We ordered a used one and after installing still the same problem. Again, it is not performing the start up sequence and only the solenoid clicks twice. BPV is at 48v. What tests could we do to find the problem? This is the second controller installed. One by the owner and now one with us.

those foot pedal switches are a source of Gremlins. I think that the start up involves looking at these switches. On one cart i had you had to pull up on the gas pedal every time

Charger port could be bad.

Thanks. We checked pedal switch and is ok. The throttle sensor was replaced as we were getting an incorrect reading. Am testing receptacle next but since the charger worked properly we assumed it was ok.

IMHO....you would not have any startup noise if the charger interlock was active. I have seen a Bad Electrical Brakes prevent startup,

Re: 2008 EzGo RXV does not run. Not performing start up sequence
update: so we found issues in the 5v circuit when doing voltage checks. found that the brake rotary switch is not giving any output voltage. same happening with accel switch which has been replaced. only need to do the bearing encoder test to see if that has failed as well. the final part of the 5v circuit is the SOC meter which we do not have one in the car. the owner tried installing an LED blinking light and hard wire to the SOC red and black cables in the plug. this appears to have shorted the 5v circuit and damaged the controller. will keep updating.

BTW the 'two clicks of death' on a Danaher RXV (which you got given it's a two-thousand eight (I would type the number but for some reason it inserts a emoji)) Usually is indicative of 'Drive Fault 'error, which can be caused by multiple factors: Charger interlock failed closed (if you had handheld you'd see 'Charger Conn' under 'Warnings' with 'Drive Fault' under 'Errors'), a bad solenoid (does yours have the smaller solenoid wired in, or the much-larger, cylindrical 'Thrombetta' solenoid used later? If you got the smaller one, replace it ASAP; if you got the motor brake with the handle, also replace it ASAP. known failure points and known to kill controllers too), a bad controller can also cause Drive Fault.

Thanks. We are not able to scan this controller as it does not have the scanner plug. We tested charger and disconnected the black wire to main negative but car still did same thing. we changed solenoids for a trombetta 48v but that was not the issue. I now know about the "two clicks of death" on these things!

Re: 2008 EzGo RXV does not run. Not performing start up sequence
The port to plug in a handheld is under the cup holders. Usually there's a 'blank' plug with two wires inside plugged into it--without that you won't get clicks/power period. not even the two clicks of death. The Danaher and Curtis RXVs use two different handhelds.
BTW does your reverse buzzer work? cutting one of those off is another way to guarantee a drive fault error and it's said by Bob Boyce here to ruin controllers. |
