Brand new to carts. Looking to add speed. 2015 EZ GO TXT
I've been reading the other threads and figuring a few things out quickly. I am brand new to this whole thing (brand new like picked up a 2015 TXT yesterday) and the first thing I noticed is that it's a bit slower than I had hoped. So now, I'm trying to figure out how I can add some extra speed without breaking the bank. I'm not looking to go crazy but a few extra MPH would be nice.
Question 1, who can help/give guidance with the passkey/programmer situation? Reading it appears there are some reasonable "single use" options out there? Question 2, do larger wheels and tires actually add much speed? Thanks! P.S. I live in Mooresville, NC |

Input on wheels and tires is also appreciated.

Re: Brand new to carts. Looking to add speed. 2015 EZ GO TXT
Wheel (rim) diameter is cosmetic. Tire diameter changes both speed and torque.
A taller than stock tire increases speed, but reduces torque. Attached is a chart showing the speed gains and torque losses for tire heights in 1/2" increments. ------- Due to the torque loss, the mathematical speed gain will not be full obtained and low pressure tires (Max inflation pressure of 10PSI or less) may be slower than stock height tires. |

You'll also want to look at your batteries. Weak batteries will make it feel sluggish and not get to top speed. If all your batteries check out then you'll be looking for upgrades.
There are many options, tires will gain you a little speed at the loss of torque. An upgraded controller can give you both speed and torque. Skip the motor upgrade for now. Do the controller first and that'll probably get you where you need to be. That's my $0.02 |
