Default Nissan Leaf Modules from Tech Direct

Hello to all,
I have installed a total of 209 G2 Leaf modules in packs from Tech Direct since Nick from EV Battery passed away in 2017. I received 14 modules last week and was trying to order more. None were shown on eBay or their site. I contacted them via email and received this message.

We are still in operation but we do not have any more Nissan Leaf Modules and we may not be able to have them. We do have other types although. Let me know what voltage and what capacity are you looking for

Just thought I should let everyone know incase you were trying to find G2's on their site. I will be researching other options for Lithium packs.

That sucks. Let us know if you find another good source for Leaf modules. I still think they are the best way to go for a cart conversion.

I will do that if I find another source or they come back to life.

I'm been researching conversion to leaf batteries and I too have been seeing a shortage of supply. I see Chevy Volt batteries are plentiful, but that's not the direction I wanted to go. The Chevy Bolts are 12S, I'd prefer a 14S system. So the research and planning continues.

If it were easy to separate the Volt batteries, they would be fine for our use but I have not heard of folks doing that. I would want 14S for sure. For lots of folks, 13S would actually be better as it would not over voltage the stock 48V controllers as much. My Yamaha controller lasted two weeks after I installed my 14S pack. I have been running an Alltrax for the past four years since then.

I paid $78 for each of my G2 modules from Tech Direct last year, $120 seems high.

I just saw a listing on tech Direct Club for 420 G2 Modules:

https://www.techdirectclub.com/nissa...th-65-bms-kit/

Seems like they are getting out of the Leaf business.

I was just browsing their website.. they seem to average about $200 per kWh.

How are they even still in business at those crazy high prices?

I would never buy a used (any) cell for more than $90 to $100 per kWh..

First time I saw techdirect was on ebay. They were advertising the leaf packs and listing them by their new capacity when, in fact, they were only at about 65%.
It took an email and some prodding to get them to fess up.. I've stayed away from them since then.

Where are you finding those prices? Most people that used the Leaf cells paid between $85 and $100 each for them. My 14s2p G2 pack cells were 70% and I paid $1035 for the lot. I get between 25 and 40 miles per charge, depending on how I have my Navitas settings. (I raise the acceleration and the speed for street driving.) I believe there is a user that has been using a similar leaf battery (G1) for 4 years and still going strong. If you are getting cells for $200 kwh or less please share you source.
The tech direct club price for that lot is ~$80 per cell, includes 65 Bms's and they are probably 65-70% usable. In a golf cart that will still produce a long lived battery!
If I had the room and the time to mess with them I would buy the lot and sell them in pack size lots for a small profit. Sadly, I have neither.
