85 DS new batteries solenoids click but no forward or reverse

Hi. First post. Was given an 85 DS electric with no batteries or charger. Bought brand new Interstate batteries and a used charger. Have not hooked up the charger. But the batteries all read correctly. When put in forward or reverse you can hear the solenoids click on in sequence. But the cart does not move. I have never touched a golf cart before. Totally ignorant. Thanks for any help

Jump the driver side solenoid with the rear of the cart jacked up. If the wheels spin, replace that solenoid. Also check your microswitches. Look at the end of your gas pedal linkage and theres a box with microswitches. Make sure you get continuity through all when actuated. The green wire is for master I believe and may be your culprit. Also check fwd/rev microswitch for continuity.

Your batteries may show voltage but they may crash under load because they are not really charged. New batteries are not to be used until the end user charges them. Charge the pack until the charger finishes its cycle, then try again.
