Cool go and stop

cart runs fine for 15-20 minutes. DIES will not run. wait a few hours, and cart runs fine for 10 minutes. again the is repeated 3 or 4 times, then stops for hours. next morning cart runs fine again 15-20 minutes and cycle starts. all new batteries, new solenoid , new brushes on motor and all connections have been checked and sprayed. at a lost

You are describing thermal cut back. Basically the control gets hot - does a safety shut down until it cools. Each time it happens it takes longer to come back until eventually it doesn't come back. Time for an upgrade

No, he means the controller. The box with all the wiring, under the seat, is getting hot.
It has been designed to shut off when internal temps get too high, (thermal cut back), as opposed to melting down and shorting everything out.
It is time to replace your controller, (speed control unit).

On a stock EZGO, it will be under the passenger side hidden under a black plastic weather cover. The cover is about 5 inches wide and 10 inches long. The cover may or may not have a toggle switch attached to it. The cover may or may not have a solenoid attached to it. It's easy to locate as all the small wires and some of the large cables go to it.
