Default DS Abrupt Stop Problems

Was on the 11th hole today, just squeezed out an up and down par to win a skin. Was feeling great till I got back in the cart to head to the next hole and felt a "hiccup" and then had no power. Batteries were charged, everything else was normal. Inspected underneath the seat and there is quite a bit of corrosion on terminals. Could this have caused an instantaneous failure? The battery charger gauge is kind of screwy, goes from high to low, then goes dead. I hear a slight clicking sound when I press down the accelerator.

Sorry for the horrible post. I just had 3 beers to drown my sorrows. Have a tournament this weekend and I'm assuming I can't ride my own cart! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The DS was built with many different drive systems and two different voltages. Nobody can help unless you provide year, voltage, drive type - or better still; the serial number - which should tell it all. Loose, broken or corroded connections are the first place to look.

Sorry for the omission. 1996, 48V. Not sure what you mean by drive type. It's the non regen model if that helps. A guy at the club is working on getting the connections to the batteries cleaned up right now, so hopefully that does the trick. Any other thoughts? Thanks!

Non-Regen means its a 48v series cart (the kind with a big Fwd/Rev Lever rather than the smaller rocker switch used on Regen). Connections to the Fwd/Rev Lever (or worn/broken/burnt connections in that lever's switches & mechanism itself) are also good places to troubleshoot.

The corrosion on the terminals can definitely cause your problem if it's bad enough to cause the wires to lose connection to the battery. With your gauge doing crazy things, I'd say there's a good chance this is your issue. Let us know what it does when you get the wiring fixed.
