Default EZGO charging issue

Hi,

I'm having an issue with my EZGO (2006 36V PDS) charger. I recently replaced the controller and solenoid (one of the terminals on the controller burnt up... practically melted) and the cart runs very strong again.

I haven't driven more than a few hundred yards though because I wanted to give it a full charge after sitting for probably six weeks while the controller was bad.

When I tried to charge the cart, the charger never "cut" on or started humming. I took my charger to a neighbors house and tried it on his cart (older EZGO 36V) and it kicked on just fine. So, the next step was to trickle charge the batteries in the cart which I've now done but still no charger kicks on.

I also notice that the stock battery meter display isn't lighting up at all. So I can't even see what level it is charged to.

Someone else who had helped me before suggested that I should temporarily modify my charger so that it would kick on whether or not it sensed enough voltage from the battery pack. I pulled the cover off the charger but the process he described to do this doesn't match up with what I'm seeing inside my charger (Powerwise II).

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Default Re: EZGO charging issue

At this point you need a volt meter to figure out what is going on. You need to check the total pack voltage and see what that is. That charger needs I believe 28 volts or better to kick on. If your pack voltage is high enough check in the socket itself to make sure things are good there..
