1992 Club Car runs sluggish at full throttle
I have a 1992 club car that runs like it should at the start, at low rpm's, I push on the gas a little more, until halfway and it runs good and increases rpm's. But once I push it to the floor the cart bogs down and is sluggish but will still run, just at low rpms. Sometimes it backfires.
The cart has a clean carb, new fuel pump and fuel lines, air filter is good. The jet was cleaned, has new spark plug. The air intake has no cracks. The cart runs good and at high rpm's if the choke is pressed all the time. What could be the cause for the cart to be sluggish at full throttle???????? |

Re: 1992 Club Car runs sluggish at full throttle
Have you tried playing with the adjustment screws on the carb to see if that does anything?
Start by tightening it all the way, counting the rotations (so you know where it started) then try it further in or further out and see if it runs differently Did the cart sit for a long time? |

I did try the screws but that did not do help a lot, the cart was sitting for a couple years.

Could be the float... Old carb and lots of sitting. I would replace carb.

Check for cracks in the air tube from the air filter box, to the carb!

Re: 1992 Club Car runs sluggish at full throttle
I'm with lightninlarry... I'd recommend just getting one of the 19 dollar ebay carbs.
I had a somewhat similar problem on a cart a few weeks ago that had sat a few years. I'd spent forever cleaning the carb, but cart still didn't get the right mixture and required choking on and off, and wouldn't respond to carb adjustment. New carb made it run like new. The floats are tricky |

Thanks. I will go that route and try a new carb. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.
