Re: Which speed code or new motor
Have you ever checked your MCOR to see if your getting the full range.

Re: Which speed code or new motor
Showing top speed of just about 19mph.
I believe the MCOR is getting full range but will double check. |

Re: Which speed code or new motor
Speed code 4 should get you the 25 mph your looking for. (if you got code 3 now). But hold off if your going to upgrade your controller but stock should be good for South FL.

The speed magnet has half the poles, so in theory, the new speed limits are: Code 3 = 14mph goes to 28mphOf course You will not reach either of these limits with stock components. |

Re: Which speed code or new motor
Actually it will only increase your speed by a factor of 1.5 not two. Here is a start. I know this is not conclusive proof but it's from an ad on Amazon. I'll look for more and get back with you.

There is no confusion on the math, the limits work like I said. If your cart only has enough performance to gain 3mph, it does not matter if You had speed code 3 or 4, You would only get the same 3mph increase. |

Re: Which speed code or new motor
The original post states he had the original control repaired and added 23" tires.
Mathematically this is a 225 amp control working under a 20% increased load which we have seen results in an equal amount of lost torque. So it's like having a 180 amp controller. Not something I would expect to work well. The XCT would yield 460 peak amps and allow the stock motor 22 mph on stock tires and 26 mph on 23s given flat ground and proper inflation |

Re: Which speed code or new motor
Here is some more interesting reading.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/extre...gnet-scam.html I'm sure MC1 is interested in how fast he really will be going. Not his theoretical speed. |

Re: Which speed code or new motor
As for the speed magnets, I've installed over 100 and sold over 2000 in the last 4 years. Some people love them, some people claim they don't work. After doing some digging, the people who don't like them have problems with their cart that keep them from benefiting from the increased RPM limit the magnet gives the controller. Problems range from under-inflated tires to battery problems, mcor issues, worn throttle linkages, and so on... The magnet works as long as your cart works like it's supposed to.

Re: Which speed code or new motor
I have no comparison to how the cart ran before the installment of the speed magnet. But I was certainly not upset we got 19mph.
Yes stock controller, stock solenoid, new batteries. I did all the reading on the magnet and speed sensor replacement, but figured it was worth replacing. I might just do a motor replacement vs a new controller since I just paid to get this controller rebuilt and the rebuild comes with a 2yr warranty. Also a new solenoid as well. The only other option would be to sell the controller/solenoid/OBC as a working kit to recoup some of the costs. Then do the controller/solenoid upgrade, keep the stock motor. I'll have to do some math to see if that's an option. Still need to add a rear seat, which will add some weight. Which might warrant a motor that has more power. This is street cart, so no need to go much faster. |
