I used Rustoleum rust reformer years ago on a couple of tin hoods for antique walk behind garden tractors that were too thin too sandblast. Worked great, rust never came back for years. Now, they were not salt "etched" but we do have lots of humidity here. Unfortunately found out 2 years ago, it is not fireproof.

Can't go wrong with POR 15. Paint it once and you're done.
That being said, I intend to use regular Rustoleum gloss black on my Carryall suspension when I rebuild it later this year.

Oh, man, sorry about the fire. Puts the problem of a little rust on the suspension into perspective...

I used POR 15 on a car about a decade ago. I didn't keep the car long enough to find out if it held up, but I remember vividly how difficult - well, impossible - it was to get off my hands. I assumed it would be like regular paint, so I didn't use gloves. Got a little on my hands, and NOTHING would take it off. It finally went away as my skin naturally sloughed off. Same thing happened when I used got some of the new 8X construction adhesive on my hands this past summer. Regular construction adhesive peels right off, but this new stuff wouldn't come off my hands with a knife. Took about three weeks to kinda wear off.

for those that have the slow drying issue with Rustoleum, try cutting it 7-10% with acetone. The acetone will thin it so it lays better with less air bubbles PLUS it dries about 10X quicker.
