Default ezgo motor whining - rebuild?

I have a pretty loud electric cart, lot of whining. Pulled that motor and axel out. Rebuilt axel with new bearings and seals and can turn the input shaft with two finger and it's very smooth (got the instructions by following the instructions provided in the sticky here, and thank you, very awesome). Put it all back together and still get a lot of noise, so assuming it's all from the motor. Can the bearing in a 96 txt motor be replaced, or not worth the trouble? Also a slight "tick" when it runs, so thinking the bearing in the motor are roasted, or close.

No responses, so I did some calling around. Finally found a guy that could do it (he rebuilds starters and alternators and moonlights on other stuff, like my motor). Said the brushes were so worn that the wires melted into the end of the lead brushes (or whatever they use) were showing and rubbing on the armature, which is where the noise came from. He replaced the armature as it has some major wear from the brushes, installed new brushes and an end bearing. Reinstalled and it runs well, and it's quiet! Worked out well for $150 as compared to buying a new motor.

You did the right thing and that seems to be a fair price and you had to have a new armature to boot.

Brushes and bearing are near $100, don't know what a used armature runs but I would think near $50.

You need to fix the guy up with some adult beverages for sure!
