As you can see, there's plenty of "meat" left on the copper commutators. If you can smooth them out, it would help prevent hot spots, where the brushes only contact the higher portions. Eventually, the brushes will conform to the non-smooth shape.
I'd get it as smooth as you can, then run it slow and give the brushes a chance to wear. If you can find a shop to machine it for a reasonable price, that would be the best. Personally, I'd spend a day and do it by hand, but that's just me. |

I found pieces of magnet metal between bearing & speed sensor. I pulled speed sensor to clean out those pieces. Is there a magnet that goes in there?
