Default 2001 36v ezgo smoking solenoid

36v series ezgo I've been working on the original thread was
2001 36v exgo solenoid no click. I had quite of bit of problems originally and had to rewire the whole ignition system to get everything testing properly now I am here.

Ok so I have completely rewired every wire on the carts system except the larger gauge power and grounds coming from controller and motor. I also replace solenoid, forward roller switch and pedal micro switch. the micro switch was fried so before when I turned ignition on it was automatically smoking the solenoid after replacing forward micro switch to get power to ignition. That's when I noticed all the melted wires and replaced.

Now when key is on I see no smoke until I press the gas pedal once pressed solenoid starts to smoke. I don't see any wires rubbed bare and the diode side with line is on the positive terminal.

Can someone please give me some more direction?

So here is what is happening. Everytime I replace foot pedal micro switch it instantly burns out once you press the pedal and it looks as if the diode on the solenoid arced and smoked as this happened.

Take the diode off, it is important for switch longevity (funny, right), but cart will run without it.

your awesome bud. always here to help for sure. I just found another post where this happened and the guys diode failed causing this exact problem. I'm going to pull it off and see what happens. should I replace if it is the culprit or just leave it off?

ok cgtech no smore burning up micro switches that is a huge plus. However now I am only getting a solenoid click. No movement in forward or reverse.

No problem I hope it helps someone in the future.

p.s. I found broken connector on s2 only because I followed your 36v ezgo diagnostic on your page. Your website and this forum helped me a lot. So thank you.
