Just a thought but have you checked both of your clutches to be sure they're functioning 100% ?

They appear to be the best I can tell. Here is a video of it in action. I have tried to do research on them.

As expected the intake valves are trashed

So, a quick valve job and you should be running well. BUT. Make sure your air filter system is sealed nicely. This is most likely the cause of your problem. The inlet valves are designed to be soft to prevent damage to the head. and this fact can be used to diagnose a poorly sealed air intake/filter box etc. If you have the large square filter box, make sure you have the PINK coloured air filter fitted. The old black filter was found to let dust in and caused this to be a common issue.

The bore was worn out of spec so I pulled it down. Not sure if I am just going to stay with the 295 or punch it out to 350. I think I found a 350 crank locally.

If you cant find the crank, i think you can run with the 295 crank and have the block bored, skimmed/decked.
You should get around 20HP with a bored out and re jetted 295. If you find a 350 engine, use the 295 head for the same amount of horses. Much better than the standard 9HP 295

Thanks to everyone for the help and input. The project took a little bit of a turn. The ezgo dealer that had the crank ended up having a used 350 MCI he was going to rebuild when he had the chance. I ended up picking it up for $300. It is in MUCH better shape than my 295. After pulling it apart all it needs is rings. So I will come out the same $ if not cheaper, a ton less work and have the correct motor that originally came in my cart.

Nice, but dont forget to use the 295 head on it with a 350 head gasket. 18/20 hp on a cart is awesome and will beat off all the other standard carts.
