Default Replacement generator/starter G1

Hi Fellas....My old girl (G1) has been a bit slow starting of late...well yesterday it wouldn't start at all...The F1 terminal on the starter was lose and because of the rubber cap hiding the nut we never saw that it was...well over time the terminal has worn off ...Its a major job to replace as the terminal, its soldered to the internals of the starter motor...

Question ???....Are the ones off ebay any good?...I can get one from the USA landed here in Auusie for a fraction of the cost they want here...$220 compared to $600...I guess the cheap ones are Chinese....Anyone tried these?

Thx...griff

It was it is with regard to price. I am not as tough on the China stuff as most other guys, though. I found that the China stuff will work but there is a luck element. I have a China starter on my G1 which has been doing great for about 5 years now. That said, I put a China one on one of my old Columbias a couple of years ago and I had to do the brushes within a year. With the China stuff you simply have to know the risks and accept them. It you want to minimize the risks then you have to pay up for the good stuff.

my opinion if you can have someone rebuild it, your better off in the long run.
the OE starter gen was built worlds better than the aftermarket units
