Default Drive2 EFI computer

I was told that the engine EFI & RPMs are controlled by a computer and that changing the governor only lits you increase them a small amount then the computer overrides it.
I'm only wanting it to do no more than 20 mph, its holding a steady 18 currently after uping the gov.
The throttle response is now touchy for a slow start and especially in reverse making me think that any more adjustment isn't the answer.
Your thoughts on it!!
Thanks

There is a rev limiter in the computer, so if you try to bypass the governor, you will just end up with a top speed that speeds up, slows down, speeds up, slows down.

Thanks on the response on the rev limiter.
However, is there a safe way to increase the speed just a little... like maybe 5 mph? I have 14" tires and my top is 18 mph.
How about possibly gearing or moding the clutch? From what I've found there isn't much talk on the '18 EFI Quiettec with IRS. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well, if you had bought the real PTV model, it would have came with higher speed gears from the factory. (Like 9.8:1 ratio). Changing the clutch shouldn't do you any good, as the governor regulates road speed off the input shaft inside of the transmission, speeding up by way of the clutches wont work because the "speed regulation" happens after the clutches.

One way to get a higher top end is to increase the size of the tires. This in effect changes the gear ratio, it can increase top end speed but will have an effect on low end torque. Don Plowman can help you with any adjustments to the clutches to compensate for tire size changes.

Would a 2016 EFI Drive have this same rpm limiter? Would explain a lot to me anyway

Well that explains why the speed spring didn’t work.. Any way to disable it?

Sure, get a RaspberryPI and build a whole PCM, which I would love to do, but it would be a ton of work, including building 3D fuel/spark/rpm tables from scratch.

Well I just bought a couple of Pi’s for building a DNS server but what you are talking about is probably a little more work.

Oh well, 20 mph it is!!
