Re: My cart won't start! Please help.
Okay solenoid functions like a switch. the switching action happens between the large posts, on / off. The small posts are the activation circuit one will have a constant negative and the other will get a positive charge from one of the 2 micro switches in the black box. I use a small jumper wire to activate the solenoid when in doubt. hope this helps?

Re: My cart won't start! Please help.
So if I have power to the solenoid as it should be and I can jump between the large post to force it to work, The brand new solenoid isn't good. I guess I get another. I have the worst luck getting new faulty parts. Thanks

Re: My cart won't start! Please help.
Remove all wires from the small posts on the solenoid, use two jumper wires from the battery, one pos, one neg. Touch them to the small posts, doesn't matter which wire goes where at this point, it is just to test the solenoid.
If the engine spins you have a bad ground from one small post or a break in the 12V pos circuit feeding the other post. If it doesn't spin with this test replace the solenoid. |

Re: My cart won't start! Please help.
Thanks crash, I did as you said and nothing happened. I have replaced the solenoid twice already. I now believe that I was misinformed on the replacement. A mechanic told me that "a 12V solenoid is a 12V solenoid, just get one from Auto Zone" It seems to me that I must need an oem or am part specifically for my CC DS.
Can anyone tell me if there is a differance between automotive and CC solenoids? Sorry if I ask dumb ?'s Thanks to all of you who have and will take time to help us inexperienced carters!!!! |

Re: My cart won't start! Please help.
If you don't ask you never become "experienced"
The mechanic needs to know when to say he doesn't know. He has cost you a couple of wrong parts and a lot of aggravation. An automotive solenoid is used for starting engines and is normally only engaged for seconds at at time. The cart solenoid is a heavy duty continous use type and is made to stay engaged for hours. With the correct one it should correct that problem. |
