You probably have a pinched cable. Look under the skid plate area...

doesn't appear to be cable related, can watch the cable move the pivot at rear of diff it just doesn't engage it all the way, can rock clutch back and forth some and it will engage it into gear, does not do this all the time, but then have only had this cart a couple of weeks, its a 95 metalist, so far have swaped out old cowl to TXT style, replaced belt with shorther drive belt, added windshild, lift kit, tires are in the future, the engine will be rebuilt or replaced down the road as well, its low on compression right now but still runs good 115, 135 psi compression.

Are the cables adjusted properly? Are all the springs, spacers and hardware all there? Being 15 years old, there could be some garage modifications causing improper movements...

it all appears stock, how tight can I adjust those springs? thinking maybe just need a little more pressure on the lever, also planning on changing the diff fluid, how much and what weight?

i would say in hdpwolf's case it was the shorter belt (he'd just replaced) not being broke in that was causing his shifting issues. I've seen them do that if your on a hill or slope, doesn't seem to happen much on flat ground and will quit altogether after the belts broke in.

when I did the rebuilt I lubed the cables, checked routing, adjustment, didnt really make a difference, seems to do it like you said when on incline,or pressure against axle, think it is relate to shorter belt, seems to be getting better as belt wears in some, also going to change fluid in diff as soon as it warms up little more around here .
