OK so why did straight gear trannys go from 80w90 to automatic trans fluid?

You are such a showoff... leaving your hotdog hanging all over the place... shame on you!!!

Maybe it's because automatic transmission fluid can handle cold and heat extremely well, better for keeping seals healthy and acts as a great cleansing agent with great viscosity properties. Oh... and it's a pretty color also

I think this answers one reason i would stick with 30w in the golf cart diffs. Not to say the 80w/90w is not going to work, but the drag that heavy oil puts on the gearing is definetly going to effect a sparkies power. Any drag put to a sparky translates to less run time.
