Default V-Glide Switch

The V-Glide wiper brush blew out on our 93 club car? Any idea what causes this. Looking at replacing the whole V-glide switch assemly but it seems like we can buy a switch assembly with resistors and without. Any idea what the difference is? Thanks.

WELCOME TO BGW!!!
The speed wiper is a weak point in the system. If the contact isn't just right between the wiper and the stationary lugs you will get some arcing and then later some big arcing... the early model Resistor coil carts are without the v-glide resistors and the later controller carts had the multi step resistors on the v-glide

Thanks for the information. So can too much weight on the cart cause the arching?

Yes, it could... too much load would increase the amperage drawn. Extra amperage equals extra heat... the weakest spot gets the hottest

I have a 93 CC with the V-Glide and mine did the same thing, make sure your coil resistors are intact and there is nothing touching those coils. As with all Electric carts make sure your cables are tight and the terminals are clean

I use a '93 around the ranch. It has the multi-step v-glide and a controller. Never a lick of trouble. Thinking about putting a 2 spd EMP motor I have in it and upping the voltage to 48v

It is a great little cart....
