Default club car repair

we fried the starter generator in our club car. The wire from terminal A1 to ground was loose at the terminal, could this cause the starter to burn up. the insulation on the ground wire was melted off from the ground to the generator, the generator is frozen. the gen was wired with the F1 connected to A2 terminal and A1 terminal to ground. the yellow wire on the small terminal went to the regulator and the white wire to the main terminal went to the positive side of the solenoid. any help would be appreciated. thankx

Had a friend who's starter burnt up but was told by a club car mechanic that is what happens when they go bad, the brushes wear out and then gets hot an freezes up, that is what over loaded your ground, good thing though better than a fire !! The wiring seems correct and that should not burn up the starter just wear and tear will do that. Just replace your starter or rebuild and the ground you should be good.

Thanks fo the heads up, I opened the generator up, the armature was badly worn on one side at the front bearing. Possibly causing it to cease up. the armature, field, brushes were toast, all insulation melted. The cart is used to push a ball retriever at the driving range. Thanks again for the response.

Read on for thread "Generator 101" about my 2002 CC. It is pictorial and describes the Ups and Downs of DIY generator replacement.
