Rate of battery dicharge for idle cart
I charged my 2004 Precedent 1 week ago today and the next morning after the charge the pack read 50.8 volts. Today the pack reads 49.8 volts. I've watched it all week drop steadily every day. The cart has not been driven at all. The batteries are 2007 Trojan T1275's so I know they are getting old.
What is the normal discharge rate or is this just a sign of old/weak batteries? If I switched it to tow when I park it, would that help? |

Tow might help... the cold weather may be adding to the draw also. Normal draw at 70 degrees is 4% per week.

Re: Rate of battery dicharge for idle cart
I ran across this same type of problem awhile back on a 8 volt battery equipped Precedent and after doing some tests found that in this case a voltage reducer was powered all the time causing discharge much faster than normal rate. When I hooked digital meter to battery pack I found a 1 amp draw even when tow-run switch was in tow position, and nothing was being used from reducer. I dont know that much about Precedents with 8 volt batterys and a voltage reducer ( looks like after market "CHINESE" that may or may not be factory ) so added a dash switch to kill power and ALSO added a fuse.

Re: Rate of battery dicharge for idle cart
.96 x 50.8 = 48.8
U'r above average , but it's probably colder then 70 degrees there ? And as oldmech said , if you have anything wired to the batteries, radio, converter ...etc. then more draw. |
