DCS vs PDS

Can someone tell what the difference is and is there an advantage to owning either one? Thanks

They are both Sepex or separately excited motor drive systems. DCS appeared in 1995 and was produced until 2000. It was followed by PDS the next generation... they have similarities. They are both good drive systems.

The Stock PDS control has a low voltage cut off feature and it features diagnostic fault codes. It also has interchangeable performance jumpers(sometimes mis-labelled chips) .. the only one of it's kind I know of...

The DCS cart makes more speed than a series cart with a slight reduction in torque...

The PDS makes more speed than the DCS with a reduction in torque.

Both the DCS and the PDS respond well to the Alltrax controller upgrade packages like #505 or 808 on the cartsunlimited website.
The DCS will produce lots of torque and 20mph on the 505 package.
The PDS will produce additional torque & speed up to 24 mph on pkg #808

Thanks scottyb. A good friend is looking to buy an 03 today. We didn't know the difference. This cart is very clean w/fold down rear seat. other than that it has stock wheels and runs 15 mph. Has 6-8 volt excide batteries. Lady got cart from her dad and can't find a date on batteries. Going to do a load test on each battery today. Does $1500 sound good for this? The date of manufacture, for batteries, is usually stamped on the positive post. Around here, $1500 seems to be a better than average price for a stock cart of that age.

If the batteries are Trojan brand the date code will be stamped in the Negative post. C10 = Mar 2010
2003 is a PDS with newer rack and pinion steering. $1500 is a very good price for the cart in good condition. Price varies by region and availability

Mr. Wayne, the date for the batteries should be stamped on one of the battery posts!! :)

To me that price would only be good if the batteries are fairly new and test good. If you have to add another $700 in batteries the price doesn't seem that good any more. I guess it depends on the market you're in.

I don't think it should have 8 volt batteries unless someone has converted it to 48 volts. In my area $1500 would be a good price if it's a nice cart even if it needed new batteries.
