Personally I don't see where 48v costs all that much more than 36v... the results are clear. 33% more torque and speed from the stock 36v motor run on 48v

The controller and solenoid cost the same fro 36 or 48v, The cables and the F&R need to be upgraded for either one if you are doing more than golf with the cart.

If you have batteries add 2 more used batteries in the bagwell ($100?)
If you need batteries just buy six 8v instead of 6v (+$120)
I have a good 48v DPI Charger with a plug to fit your cart for $285.... You can sell your 36v charger $100-$150 (+$150)
That is the basic cost difference, about $250-300
That is the cheapest 33% improvement you will ever get out of a golf cart in my experience.
I hope this helps

True I have built and upgraded many 36 and 48 volt carts but keep in mind...all projects start as a few bucks here and there till your boats on fire and wife is tapping her foot...

I got $235 for my stock controller and $200 for my old charger on eBay. Then got $100 for stock wheels on Craigslist. So it is possible to make some of your money back

Ok, the first thing is your golf cart is a Club Car DS not an EZGO.

Go here to figure out the year of the cart:

ScottyB can still get you set up with the upgrades. I have a DS myself and as soon as I can afford it, I'm going to be upgrading it with his upgrade kit and cables.

You are going to need a lift kit and bigger tires too. So that means you will definitely need more power. I have a lifted cart with stock 36v and it sucks. I overheat the controller all the time at the farm with it. Add a 12volt battery for the radio and lights. Maybe do a solar charger for the 12 volt battery.

That is your serial number plate.

AB= DS Electric Golf Car, 36 Volt System.
01 would be 2001
08 would be the 8th week of production.
The 992458 is the serial sequence number.

So, in summary you have a 2001 36 Volt Club Car DS.

I decoded your information from the link I posted earlier.
