Conductivity test for motor
Still working on solving problems
1994.5 Marathon Last night when check threads I found one that talked about doing a conductivity test on the motor. You think I can find it again. Any assistance would be appreciated Thanks E. Sven |

Re: Conductivity test for motor
Label and remove all 4 cables from motor.
Use two wrenches on the motor studs, one on the bottom nut to keep the stud from turning inside motor. Using and Ohmmeter, you should have low ohms or continuity between: A1 & A2 S1 & S2 You should not have any continuity between the "A" and "S" windings. You should not have any continuity between either the "A" or "S" winding and the motor chassis. If it is an older motor that hasn't been serviced in a while, carbon dust from the brushes may give you a reading between the windings and /or the windings and the chassis. Okay if it is a Meg-Ohm or greater, but if it is much less than that the innards ought to be cleaned. |
