Default Any advantages to factory 2010 48v ezgo?

I had put my search for my first cart on hold for a while but started looking again.

I found a stock 2010 48v cart for sale locally. I think it is a decent deal. I am just wondering if there are any advantages to the factory 48volt carts?

I imagine some of the factory parts could benefit from upgrading. So upgrade costs would offset cost of buying 36v cart and going 48v using aftermarket stuff.

I may be wrong, but from what I can determine, a 2010 TXT has a TCT (TruCourse Technology) drive system, which uses a Sepex motor and is akin to the older 36V PDS drive system, but there doesn't appear to be any aftermarket controller upgrades for it, so you are stuck with a 250A stock controller that costs an arm and leg to replace.

If you want to drive around the golf course at about 14MPH or cruise the neighborhood at about 19MPH, it would be a fine choice.
If you want to do more than that, it might be better to go with an older TXT that can be upgraded into what your heart desires.
Of course, that is just my opinion, others may have other opinions.

Makes sense. I'm not looking to cruise at 14 so think I may keep looking. Thank you for the info!

JohnnieB, Just asking here, would an Alltrax DCX400 not work as a replacement ?

It probably would if you could figure out how to interface it.

The DCX controllers are Plug-n-Play for DCS and need an adapter for PDS, but I don't see any adapters for the TCT controller on the Alltrax site.

Here's what the TCT controller and solenoid looks like and a schematic.

A quick glance tells me it might be possible with some creative wiring.

Same as a PDS.

I'm not sure on this, but I think that in addition to setting the performance mode with the handheld programmer, you might be able to add a couple switches to apply B+ to pins 4 & 11 on the 16 pin connector in different combinations to get different modes. Somewhat akin to the jumper wires in the PDS "Chips".

However, you only have four possibilities with a two digit binary code and there are five TCT modes.
Perhaps one of them can only be turned on with the programmer?

Next to the Personality switches, there is a two position switch, which isn't identified. Grey, Green Orange, which go to either pin 8 or pin 10. That gives eight possibilities, if it's only a two position switch, used with the two Personality switches.

F/R switch.
The wires go to pins 8 & 16, which are labeled F and R on wiring harness diagram.
