What type of cart? Series ,dcs or pds

How old are batteries?
Battery voltages?

Lift? What size tires?

This chart will help you answer which drive system you have.

Gas carts have drive belts ( and very old TD carts)
Solenoids are on/off switches. They work or they don't, no performance variable here.

PDS...5.9 volts on 5 of them...and 1 of them is brand new...had 1 dead battery...thought that might be the problem...but it wasn't...has only been driven a couple hundred feet since new battery was installed...normal tires...im completely new to trying to work on it..

So now it runs but looses power on any hill?
May be that more than 1 battery is weak. How old are they.

You will need a digital test meter (multimeter) to answer the questions posed here in order to perform diagnostic information, etc.

One of the first things the guys will want to know is what is the battery pack voltage and what does it drop to when you try to go uphill?
The answer will tell them something of the condition of your battery pack.

All testing should be done with a healthy fully charged pack in the cart .

the batteries have all been tested...when fully charged...i said it kinda weird...but 5 of them register at 5.9...and the 6th one is brand new...so 6 for it...i would say they are about 2 years old...how can the voltage be measured when going uphill??

Install one of these.
http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Digita...ry_Meters.html

OR attach the test leads of a handheld Digital Volt Meter to the main + & - terminals on the battery hack with alligator clips.

------------
The voltage readings for the individual batteries need to be better defined.
(IE: More digits to the right of the decimal point. 1/10 volt is fine for the 36V battery pack, but 6V battery readings should be down to 1/100 volt)

Here is a Voltage vs State of Charge chart.
(The voltages on the chart are taken 12 hours after the charger turns off automatically.)

As you see, 6V is only 50% charged and 5.9V is only 30% and when you add five batteries at 5.9V and one battery at 6V, you get 35.5V, which is only a 30% charge for the entire battery pack.

-----------
What are the battery voltages before driving the cart?
What are the battery voltages after playing a round of golf, or similar distance?
