Re: Fried Controller
Given that this is a 1992 buggy, you certainly couldn't go wrong by buying a new FNR from ScottyB. Even if it turns out to be the motor, 21 years is a LOT to ask for a high amperage, open to the elements, high amperage switch.

Re: Fried Controller
Additional info for ScottyB,
The buggy ran fine in forward and reverse before it was rewired, and FNR was "rebuilt". |

Re: Fried Controller
I been busy, not much time for the cart. I'm gonig to pull the motor again and see if I can find anything there. I believe the wiring is correct now.

Re: Fried Controller
(in a series cart) If the motor works in F or R it is good. The same holds true for the controller and solenoid. The likely suspect is the F&R switch.

Re: Fried Controller
If you have plans to upgrade, get a Heavy Duty FNR from ScottyB. I call it FNR as it does have a Neutral.

Re: Fried Controller
Got back to the project this weekend. I went back through the FNR switch and everything looks good. I shimmed the stationary contacts by about .050. Put the FNR whitch back on and get the same results. Forward but no reverse. Put it on stands and reverse works with a little hand spin to get it started. Seems to me that the reverse runs higher RPMs than when in forward. I picked up another cart, 1992 3 wheeler, and swapped the FNR switches. Same results. Forward but no reverse.

Re: Fried Controller
It's the switch.
It's the switch. It's the switch. It's the switch. It's the switch. You get the idea...... This little test helps... |

Re: Fried Controller
I hear you. Looking at the diagram, the pointed side of the switch plate is pointing up and the flat side is down. The FNR switch has the flat is at the top. Is the diagram showing the switch upside down?
