Re: CDI unit on ga1 blowing
If the ignition coil is pulling too much current, it should blow a fuse. Did you put a 10 amp fuse in it? Both fuses should be 10 amp to protect the devices.
If you can get a stock coil, install that. The resistance of the coil you have now is probably outside the specs and drawing too much current. Also make sure that the ignition wiring is correct, with nothing extra added to it. |

Re: CDI unit on ga1 blowing
Get a diagram from the sticky section above and check that the wiring is correct.

Re: CDI unit on ga1 blowing
I suggest, you remove the passangerside fan shrouding, and the CDI Magneto assy and check for shorted pulsar or source coil or ground wire shorted ground wire. Also check to see if the 4 wire leads (off the CDI assy) are shorting to the frame. Good luck

Is the record for longest response to a post? 6+ years?
As far as your charging issue as you have a new starter / gen I would suspect that that voltage regulator is bad. Some of those VRs are adjustable and other are not. Do a forum search for how to tell. Those have been talked about a lot. |
