Default Cart moves sometimes, but it's not what you think!

The problem was the cart would usually go, but you might have to hit the pedal a few times, then the other day it stopped while moving and would not go again.

Batteries newer and charged, clean cables, etc.

Soleniod would not always click, so I replaced that and the diode and resistor, band on the diode to the - side.

Test it, but same problem. Kept looking and found a bad micro switch on the F/R switch. Jumpered it for testing, and it ran great, everytime.

Problem solved right, NOT! So I let the cart down off the jack. Got in and it started and moved fine, drove about 20 seconds just fine and then it just stopped again.

Now the solenoid is clicking all of the time, but cart will not move or may studder slighty.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If you actually hooked up the diode with the band on the - side it is now blown and must be replaced.

Thanks,.I guess I forgot how I took the old one off.

The soleniod actication circuits are not labeled + -. I assume the front pole facing the batteries is + and the other facing the rear of the car is - ?

Can I leave the diode off temporarily for testing purposes?

Your DVM probably has a diode test mode. The pole facing the batteries is + and that is where the banded end should go.

Diode might be blown as previous poster mentioned. I changed it around anyway. When I hooked the cables back up there was a spark and pop when putting the - cable back on, bigger than that little spark you usually get. Now no click on the solenoid. Weird, all I did was flip the diode around?

Any idea what cause that? Can I test it without the diode?

Thanks for the help!

Personally I would buy a new solenoid if it's in your budget after the potential shorting of the one you have.

I would also replace your switch if possible.

Lastly, not sure the make or model but check your MCOR as well.

It's a club car DS, 1992. Just replaced the solenoid, diode and resistor, but had the diode on backwards.

Just an update, put old diode back on. Now solenid is working again, but no power. Checked cleaned and replaced a few wires to the controller.

At this point. I think the motor is fine, since it runs fine when the cart runs. Solenoid is good. Wiring & batterirs good.

So, I'm thinking either the v-glide or controller? Anybody got a better guess?

Thanks
