Default Forward/Reversing Issues

My 36V Club Car (1980-85) have new issues. The car moves forward and reverse when switching the gear/shift to forward/reversing without pressing the accelerator and off the keys. I almost hit my Car last night, but hit the trailer in front. Resistors looks burning and I immediately disconnected the battery. What should I do and I suspect resistors problem? Help please. Thanks

That is exactly the same as my solenoid pack. This happens before and we replaced all the solenoid, except for the 3rd speed solenoid. Forward/Reverse switch is also new. I also noticed that the cable from the Solenoid pack to the forward/reverse switch is very hot and had burnt/smoke last weekend. Do you know what is the issue? Don't know how to test the Solenoid. Thanks for your help.

Hot burned wire most likely means you have either a bad connection or you have it wired incorrectly. Double-check the wiring diagram, first. Then, check the connector on each wire/cable. Be sure they are tight and secure.

There are a ton of threads of the forum about how to check a solenoid. Use the "Search" feature at the top of the page and you'll find the info. It's very easy to do.

I'm not sure if your cart as a v-glide, but if it does take a look at this thread.

A picture of your wiring would be very helpful!

Hope this works for you.
