shoes on clutch
i'm going to be replacing my carb[shaft on mine has lot of side to side play]and putting in a power clutch spring[hope to get better pulling power]and replacing drive belt;;
while i'm down..on the clutch there is these small plasic looking things[a snow mobile person said they are called shoes?anyway can someone explain what they do and can they be replaced?he said mine looked bad[i don't know] |

They are called ramp shoes and they prevent metal to metal contact when the clutch halves rotate/separate. If you look at how the clutch works, it is pretty evident what they do. They are only a couple bucks each and easily replaced when the clutch is apart. As long as you are into it I'd replace them. - RAY
