Default First Yamaha G1

Picking up my first Yamaha G1 that has a issue from what the seller mentioned that is a starter/generator issue to where it must not be turning on ? Is there anything I can check while I’m there ? Getting it for $500 so I think it’s a good deal as is

Even if that cart is complete junk the it's worth more than $500 as a parts cart. Just grab it no matter what.

It sounds like it's not turning over at all which can be a load of things. Take a peek at the "So your Yami's won't turn over" sticky at the top of the forum.

$500 is a bargain. If the S/G isn’t spinning then it could be a variety of things.. Once you get it home we can help you troubleshoot.

I am seeing new aftermarket starter gens out there for $130 with free shipping. Granted they aren't oem but still. I bet you are looking at $30 just for shipping for a used one. Something to think about.

The part you need is called the "instrument panel" as listed on page 6-20 in this manual:

https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=129227

Regarding the starter / gens, of course the aftermarket China ones aren't as good as the original Hitachi ones. Same thing with carburetors. That said, China is the only place those are all made now and you just have to deal with it unless you can find a used one of course. The problem is that finding good used stuff for these old carts is getting increasingly rare and not worth my time to do it. Personally, I resigned myself to just getting the China stuff and hoping for the best. I have actually had good success with the China starter / generators. Carbs not so much.

My first one too!
I’m in Ohio as well (Mansfield Area)
Here’s what I was handed with mine. QYou can order parts and rebuild. There are yet videos showing how to.
Luckily I ran across a guy on fb that is from same area and has helped me immensely!
