Taller but narrow tire
My cart has 18-8.50-8 tires on it. The back tires only have 1/4" clearance on each side when I load it on my trailer.
I need to go to a 22 inch tire but don't want to go any wider so I don't have to get another trailer. Do I have any options? |

Re: Taller but narrow tire
The taller tire might create some performance issues with your cart. If trailer has an angle iron railing maybe take it to a welding shop and see if they can easily mod the trailer. Also if your trailer is that small it likely has the smaller tires. If so it might behoove you to upgrade to a larger trailer with high speed tires.
I have a 5' x 8' trailer and I have to load my cart on backwards so the flip seat foot rest will clear the front trailer railing. I also had to add some 2 x 10 wooden boards to the floor to raise it over the railing. |

Re: Taller but narrow tire
Thanks for the reply. The trailer has a full size 2000# axle and tires and it will be a serious modification to make it wider. Better to build a new one. The trailer axle length limits width of loading area.
I want the taller tires for better ground clearance. I know I am going to have to do a ScottyB upgrade of the drive. I was just looking for an easy way out without doing any trailer work. |

Re: Taller but narrow tire
You might find some clearance by looking at and changing the offset in the rims....

Re: Taller but narrow tire
22" tires will require a lift kit. A lift kit will require offset wheels. Offset wheels will widen the track of the cart. Better start looking for a wider trailer.
