help installing the rear, jake's lift on a 1981 ds
Trying to work on the rear and this is what i'm running into. Is this going to work or am going to have to find new shocks plates and shocks? instructions show a picture with a stem shock but then says eye shock mounts from the side...which doesn't make sense to me. here are some pictures. The instructions say this kit fit 81-04.5 electric.
my shock brake plate instruction pictures...shows allen cap bolt through center, it can't go through the center of mine as the mount the holds the shock blocks half the hole. Then i'm lost on attaching the shock as i have an eye shock This is the instruction picture. |

According to the instructions on Jakes website:
12. Using the stock nuts and bolts attach the shocks to the new shock mounts. Older gas model carts have any eye shock. You will mount your shock to the supplied bent shock mount with supplied hardware as shown. So my guess there is you should have a different "bent shock mount" in with your hardware somewhere. That piece should replace that piece in your first picture. |

no other parts with my kit. I did find some instructions that says to bend the plate up to a 90. The ubolt doesn't look to line up very well with the stock mount. So i have ordered spring plates that match the pictures so hopefully they are in stock. now trying to figure out which shocks will fit as i see two different sets for the rear with straight shafts.
this is the bottom i have the u bolt doesn't line up with the holes that need to be made bigger. |
