Double A-Arm Lift and HD Rear Leaf Springs
I have the Jake's Double A-Arm Lift Kit and HD Rear Leaf Springs installed. I also have my shocks installed but there isn't a whole lot of play room left before they are completely closed. Maybe about an 2 inches on both front and rear. Is it fine to remove both the front and rear shocks with my setup? I drive primarily off-road and I'm looking for a smoother ride. Any other recommendations for a smoother ride? Sometimes I carry up to 100-300lbs extra weight in the cart.

Why don't you try removing the shocks and let us know how it works. It seems if the shocks are reaching their limit that could hurt the ride. Maybe you can help us all out on this ideal.

Ha, well I'd rather not pull them off and break\bend something on the next pothole so you guys can learn at my expense. I figure it's a fairly common setup so someone probably knows the answer :)

Re: Double A-Arm Lift and HD Rear Leaf Springs
Shocks have nothing to do with structural integrity of a cart.
Their purpose is to dampen the spring bounce. They are mounted on rubber bushings, that allows the shock to flex in it's mount. They are not holding anything together. You will do no harm to your cart by removing your shocks. You could put shorter shocks on your cart, if you are worried over removing the shocks on it now. |

I just can not believe you thought I was trying to get you to damage your cart. I just want to know if it would help the ride.

" I just want to know if it would help the ride."
No it will not improve ride, unless they are not the the correct shocks. Which could be the problem the op is having. The shock absorbers dampen the leaf springs to prevent wheel bounce. In the case of Club Cars, the leaf springs determines the ride. If you want a softer ride and have multi leaf springs, remove a leaf or two, front and back. It will soften your ride. Unless you are carrying a moose around on your buggie, you can run on single leaf on the front and 1 or 2 on the rear. |
