Default Torque loss estimate switching to high speed gears

Title says it all. Looking for an estimate in torque loss if I switch to 6:1 gears

2005 TXT, Series, 36v, lithium upgrade, stock motor and controller (plan on sr48500 as next upgrade before sending motor to plum quick!)

All my driving is flat pavement around the neighborhood

I’m hoping to switch gears upgrade the motor controller and still gain torque at the end of it all!

Thanks guys

6:1 gears are 50+% taller than stock gears. Expect at least that much torque (power) loss.

How fast are you running now, and how fast are you looking at going? If you are just using the cart on flat pavement as a neighborhood cruiser, then maybe consider a Series to PDS conversion.

Running about 16mph right now and looking to top out north of 30 eventually. I want to be able to drive on more major streets without feeling like a jackass holding up traffic.

Probably not going to convert but interested in what you think the results would be and what is involved in it.

Would the 500amp controller counter most or all the loss?

It will certainly help but, with the stock motor, not entirely.
There are too many variables for a simple answer.

Have you ever been in a golf cart over 30 mph? It's pretty scary. The suspension & steering geometry is designed for 14-19 mph. The braking is no where near adequate.

At 36v with stock tire around 23/24. 48v around 27/28. Larger tires will give you a higher speed but a loss of torque.

Need to replace the Controller and motor (I recommend Scotty's FSIP MOT-B3). Need a F&R switch and a PDS wire harness. Existing controller and motor can be sold to offset the cost.
