Carryall 6 refurb begins
I just picked up a 2000 carryall 6 flatbed and have a few upgrades in mind. First off batteries are weak due to freezing last winter and need to be replaced. Since I have room under the drivers seat to I was thinking of moving to 8 6volt batteries. Is there any reason no to go this route? It has a 3.1 hp motor and a 300 amp Curtis controller. Also this cart will live outside in New England. Maybe I’m wasting money on extra batteries that may need to be replaced more often due to the cold winters? I do plan on a a lift and tires as this will be used as a yard tool on my property so the extra current may be helpful although no long distances will be driven. Any insight would be appreciated!

Re: Carryall 6 refurb begins
I would not change over to 8-6v batteries. Not a big enough gain to make it worth your while in my opinion. If you are needing more AH's, US Batteries makes a 205 AH 8-volt and Trojan makes a 170 AH and maybe one more bigger, I do not remember.

Re: Carryall 6 refurb begins
Thanks for the reply, that’s what my gut was telling me. I just like to overbuild things. I’m about to pull the trigger on a a 6” spindle kit with 22-23” A/T tires. Problem is I can’t find a 12” solid steel rim. I found plenty of windowed steel in that size though. I would really like to find a set of factory 252/272 rims like this:

Nope, and I don't trust BU!
Take a look through here http://www.golfcarttiresupply.com/ as they are a site sponsor and should have what you want/need..... |

Re: Carryall 6 refurb begins
That’s where I was originally going to purchase from but they don’t have a 3:5 offset steel rim. From what I’ve read that’s the size recommended by Jakes for my lift. Maybe 3:4 is fine?

Re: Carryall 6 refurb begins
Thanks, I’ll give them a ring. I’d prefer to support a site sponsor. They actually have the Carlisle A/T I really want anyway!

Re: Carryall 6 refurb begins
Maybe you guys can help me decide on the lift height. Would a 3" lift with 20" tires leave me wanting more? Would a 6" lift with 23" tires be too much for Yard duty? I have 3 acres and its pretty rough terrain once your off the grass.
