Definitely get the 2 speed motor, the second Field/Stator coil they install is equivalent (actually much better) then the Field Weakening method we talked about.

Don't get the antiquated manual switch, You will want a reversing contactor setup from scottyb to switch the Motor coils on the Fly.

Im really considering it, that and option 1 that he mentioned

i just dont want to get lost in wiring up more stuff then i really need

and the 2 speed part of it.. am i going to lose any kind of down low power in torque mode or will it be the same but limit rpm in torque mode so it dosnt spin to fast? thats where im a little confused at

Or is it the same as it is now until the second speed is activated then it just spins the motor faster?

He said the first option would limit you to around 24-25mph, is that the max speed you want?

Those motor have two separate sets of field windings so it can act like two different motors, one develops lots of low end torque but that also prevents the motor from spinning too fast.

When you switch to the other set of posts on the Motor, there is less low end torque but it allows the motor to go a lot faster.

You can either use a mechanical switch similar to the OEM FNR switch to select which motor coils get power or wire a reversing contactor to make the switching easier if you need to change the modes a lot.

Ok that makes more sense
I would like 25ish that would be nice . faster would be great but ill take what i can get.
The 2 speed thing sounds pretty interesting, i thought it was more of a limiter for each mode i guess. wasnt aware it would actually act like 2 motors

Figured it would just cap the motor at a low speed to ACT like a 2 speed if that makes sense..
2 sets of posts makes more sense now

The caution that should be noted is that if somebody was to use the high speed 'setting' for hill climbing motor and F&R damage may result.

The problem arises when somebody unaware is using the cart. Maybe you could use a keyed switch for fast / slow

Scottyb or Sergio how would the two speed motor work with an Alltrax 500Amp controller with the three mode switch? Just curious of your opinion on this subject.

The two speed motor is just for Series Motors since the Controller has a single driver for both the Armature and Field/Stator so any changes that affect just the Field/Stator needs to be not outside of the Controller.

The Sepex (Separately Excited) Controller has two separate driver outputs so it can change the amount current going through the Field coils independent of the Armature driver.

Gallachera89, make sure to get the high speed banding.
