12 volt power needed.

Okay everyone I have a 2005 club Car Precedent 48 volt four 12 volt batteries. I want to have 12 volt power outlets on the dash and install a radio eventually. I need to know where the best place is to pull this 12 volts from and how to do it or what does it take. Thanks.

What you will need to do it properly is a 48 Volt-12 Volt reducer/converter . . . this utilizes the entire battery pack to obtain the 12 volts you require and does not over burden an individual battery.

Here is another thread Steve started. He wanted to have the converter switch on/off with his ignition. This is a good idea from a safety standpoint and also you wont have a draw on your battery pack when the cart is not in use

Just another thought.....I was strongly considering adding a converter also but ended up going with a dedicated 12v gel cell "scooter" battery (thanks to the advice of many on this forum). It powers my front and rear lights and a stereo and I have had absolutely 0 issues so far. I have a battery tender that I keep it on when not in use and it only takes overnight for it to be fully charged and ready to go. I posted some pictures on my install (I hid the battery in the dash) and I'll be happy to give you a run down on the parts and how I did it if you're interested.

The battery I used was a 35amp hour absorbed glass mat (sealed gell cell) from my local scooter store. It has threaded posts that works out great when using ring terminals. Since I used an overhead radio console I ran the wires through the front roof support (a huge,huge pain and with no obvious reason why). I'll take some more pictures oer the weekend and login everyday so if you have any questions don't hesitate to shoot me a PM.
