Default Help with rear axle ID

Customer wants to upgrade his motor to more HP for his new home in a hilly area.

The cart is a 96 Ezgo TXT series. And the motor is 2 hp.

After I looked at the rear end I noticed this odd arrangement. (see pic)
Certainly not what came with the cart as its attached below the spring and not above it. And the shocks are just hanging loose as there's no way to attach them!

Anybody have any idea whose axle this is so I can get the right motor?
Sadly, the name on the motor is a long defunct overhaul company, no longer in business.

Welcome to BGW

looks like a stock rear, someone just flipped the axle under the springs to lift the cart and never put the shock mount plate in to mount the shocks, that's why the shocks are hanging

I don't think so, the shock mounts on the axle are two brackets on each side, as opposed to the usual plate with a hole. Also the brake cable mounts are welded to the axle. Also the vent is up. It's hard to believe somebody went to the trouble to fill the original vent hole and weld in a new one. This one sure looks like it was originally set up for under-spring mounting.

Regardless, its a dana 12. I would pull the motor to verify it has 19 splines on the input shaft (all danas i have seen have 19). Once this is verified, any motor designed for a yamaha newer than G9, or nearly any Ezgo motor will fit.
