2008 36v PDS torque issue

I have a 2008 EZGO PDS 36v. Twice over the last year the cart became very sluggish and had little torque.

The first time the cart lost torque, everything else on the cart worked fine. However, last night, first the head lights and horn stopped working and then the cart lost torque and wouldn't go unless I let it rest for a few minutes but then would only be sluggish after that.

Also, the Trojan 125 batteries are only one year old.


1. Is the loss of headlights, horn, and lack of torque connected?

2. If not, what could be the reason for the loss of torque?

Get a DVM and check the pack voltage- it should be 36 to 38+ volts. IF it's 36v recharge. Now check individual batteries . No need to disconnect anything, just move the test leads around from battery to battery. Note the differences between batteries. My guess is your 12v is drawn off of one pair and these 2 are lower than the rest of the pack = not good get a voltage reducer to draw 12v evenly from the whole pack.
Last, connect the DVM to the pack so you can drive and watch it. now tell us how low the meter reads when the cart misbehaves.
